Grannie :(
So my maternal grandmother passed away early this morning. She was 90 years old and will be missed greatly. Grannie, as we all called her, was such a wonderful woman; strong, loving, and resilient are some words that would describe her. She was doing great, living at home with help during the day doing things such as cooking meals, laundry and helping her in and out of the shower. She stayed alone and was thriving mentally and emotionally since the death of my granddad two years ago. She had a positive attitude and was so excited to have seen all six of her grandchildren graduate high school (my grandparents always said "if we could just live to see all of the grandchildren through high school, we will have lived a fulfilling life.) Well she made it to see the last one graduate (and start his first year of college) and 34 years of the oldest one's life. What an amazing and wonderful time we have had with her. She will be missed dearly, along with my granddad. They are reunited in heaven and what a homecoming that will be. They are both pain free and can watch us continue our lives from heaven. It was slightly an unexpected death because she had just broken her ankle and was placed in a nursing home rehabilitation center. Both grandparents despised the thought of nursing homes and I think she decided that that was no life for her if she could not be home. She passed seemingly peacefully in her sleep after three nights in the nursing home. I love you grannie and will dearly miss you!
